In
order to revamp the functioning of the KVIC, Khadi and Village Industries (Amendment) Bill,
2005 was prepared and placed before the Lok Sabha. Lok Sabha
considered the Bill and passed it on 27 February 2006. The Bill, as
passed by Lok Sabha, was also passed by Rajya Sabha on 11 March
2006. After assent of the President of India on 22 March 2006,
the Khadi and Village Industries (Amendment) Bill, 2006 has
been enacted as 'Khadi and Village Industries (Amendment) Act,
2006'.
